Interface depinning in a disordered medium - numerical results
We propose a lattice model to study the dynamics of a driven interface in a medium with random pinning forces. The critical exponents characterizing the depinning transition are determined numerically in 1+1 and 2+1 dimensions. Our findings are compared with recent numerical and analytical results for a Langevin equation with quenched noise, which is expected to be in the same universality class.
متن کاملCrossover behavior in interface depinning.
We study the crossover scaling behavior of the height-height correlation function in interface depinning in random media. We analyze experimental data from a fracture experiment and simulate an elastic line model with nonlinear couplings and disorder. Both exhibit a crossover between two different universality classes. For the experiment, we fit a functional form to the universal crossover scal...
متن کاملDepinning of an anisotropic interface in random media: the tilt effect
We study the tilt dependence of the pinning-depinning transition for an interface described by the anisotropic quenched Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation in 2+1 dimensions, where the two signs of the nonlinear terms are different from each other. When the substrate is tilted by m along the positive sign direction, the critical force F(c)(m) depends on m as F(c)(m)-F(c)(0) approximately -|m|(1.9(1))....
متن کاملDriven Interface Depinning in a Disordered Medium
The dynamics of a driven interface in a medium with random pinning forces is analyzed. The interface undergoes a depinning transition where the order parameter is the interface velocity v, which increases as v ∼ (F − Fc) for driving forces F close to its threshold value Fc. We consider a Langevin-type equation which is expected to be valid close to the depinning transition of an interface in a ...
متن کاملDepinning Transitions in Interface Growth Models
Pinning-depinning transitions are roughening transitions separating a growing phase and pinned (or blocked) one, and are frequently connected to transitions into absorbing states. In this review, we discuss lattice growth models exhibiting this type of dynamic transition. Driven growth in media with impurities, the competition between deposition and desorption and deposition of poisoning specie...
